Overview

The Feeding America Pathway is a free, flexible, and online program to teach the necessary skills for a career in data analytics. With zero experience required, participants will start with the fundamentals and leave the program with a skillset in very high demand by employers worldwide.

Our comprehensive program includes career coaching, social service support, and mentorship to make sure you leave the program feeling excited, confident, and career ready.

What is Data Analytics?

Data analytics is the process of analyzing raw data to find trends and answer questions. By using various techniques and technologies, organizations can get a better understanding of what has already happened, what is currently happening, and what they expect to happen in the future. If you have an analytical mindset and are comfortable with numbers, logic, and computers, data analysis may be the right fit for you.

What is Tableau?

Tableau is software program used to create visualizations of data and interactive dashboards. Tableau is the most popular tool for data visualization among Fortune 500 companies.

Time Commitment

You’ll start the program in mid-February with a ReadyNess Orientation where we’ll prepare to learn together and will get you connected to your support team. The skilling certificate, beginning in early March 2022, is self-paced and will require 10-15 hours per week until the completion of the 18-week certificate in late July 2022.

Eligibility

To be considered for this program, you must live in Central Ohio, have a high school degree or equivalent, and have a device that meets these minimum technical requirements.

Tableau Data Analytics Certificate

About the Courses
Learn the data skills and analysis necessary for today’s business and industry. You’ll work with Google Sheets to analyze data and build models, learn to use Structured Query Language (SQL) for Data Analysis, and apply data design and visualization principles in Tableau. This business analytics foundation will give you cross-functional skills, real-world project experience, and practice utilizing industry-standard tools. This program was developed in collaboration with Tableau, a leading data visualization tool, and consists of the three required courses below.

Details
This certificate program is a self-paced, 3-course certificate led by an instructor. Each course is 6 weeks long, with most students learning 10-15 hours/week. This program do not require any pre-requisite courses.

Business Analytics
  • Learn the fundamentals of Business and Data Analytics.
  • Develop your understanding of analytics in the context of a business and to provide a framework to apply topics such as framing a business problem, stakeholder analysis, data wrangling using Google Sheets, data visualizations, descriptive statistics, exploratory data analysis, and data storytelling in business.
  • Clean, visualize, analyze, and communicate data insights to stakeholders.
SQL For Analytics
  • Learn the fundamentals of SQL.
  • Identify the role and structure of relational databases as they apply to data analytics, apply the Structured Query Language (SQL) in MySQL for data manipulation language (DML), apply the Structured Query Language (SQL) in MySQL for data definition language (DDL), and apply normal forms (1NF, 2NF, & 3NF) for database normalization.
Data Analytics with Tableau
  • Learn the fundamentals of using Tableau Desktop in the context of business and data analytics.
  • Explore the role and application of data visualization in the data analysis process using Tableau.
  • Create and design both static and dynamic tables, data visualizations, dashboards, and stories while incorporating visual design best practices to better communicate insights to the intended audience, such as business stakeholders.
  • Connect multiple external data sources (e.g., Text Files, Excel, SQL databases) to Tableau and optimize large data to efficiently wrangle and analyze real-industry data.
